Today Google release Penguin update 2.0, which had many SEO’s worried. As Matt Cutts suggested, SEO would be dead by this summer! “Google will effectively be aiming to clean all forms of manipulation out of the results by the end of this summer!” This is surely one of the gravest warnings to the industry ever.
Well, the update has been rolled out. How have you been affected?
For Galido.net, a small drop in traffic has been noted. Our popular keywords however, remain strong, especially keyword “Information Technology Blog”, #1 out of 1 BILLION results.
To keep this position, and rank, numerous factors must be considered. From the looks of it however, we maintain this position not because we have millions of spammy links, but a few hundred good quality ones:
Quantity must also play a role, however, the number of domains linking to us is far from the number of links linking to our site:
If you have been delisted, or have moved down in rank, it’s not the end of the world. Improve your site with quality backlinks and pay attention to what they big players have done.
Lastly, keep in mind, that we had been delisted once shortly after the last update (a tough but useful learning experience), but after having requested for Google to revoke our delisting and after having followed Google policy, our site was back up within months.
