“Setup did not find any hard disk drives” during Windows XP Installation

microsoft_remote_desktop_connectionAre you receiving a setup did not find any hard disk drives” during Windows XP Installation when trying to install Windows XP on your new Vista or Windows 7 computer?  This issue occurs because the SATA drivers do not come with the XP installation CD.

Use N-Lite to slip stream iaahci.inf and iastor.inf files into your Windows XP CD, along with any other servicepacks, updates, and drivers and you’ll be set to go!

Here a link for the drivers:
Intel SATA AHCI Controller Driver (32-bit)
Intel SATA AHCI Controller Driver (64-bit)

Important Note: Just want to add (which may save someone a bunch of time) that if you get a “not enough virtual memory” error during XP install, it may be due to having slipstreamed SP2 or SP3.  Start with a clean copy of XP, slipstream the SATA drivers, and upgrade to the latest Service Pack after having installed XP.
